The liquid glass spray produces a water-resistant coating only around 100 nanometers (15-30 molecules) thick. On this nanoscale the glass is highly flexible and breathable. The coating is environmentally harmless and non-toxic, and easy to clean using only water or a simple wipe with a damp cloth. It repels bacteria, water and dirt, and resists heat, UV light and even acids. UK project manager with Nanopool, Neil McClelland, said soon almost every product you purchase will be coated with liquid glass.
We spend a lot of money on athletics. You could argue that this is frivolous, but spending on sports is also the cutting edge of health. Athletes get hurt and surgery techniques to get athletes back on the field are now used on us mere mortals so we can get back to our office cubicles.
Stretchable silicon electronics that offer the computing power of rigid chips could make their way into Reebok’s athletic apparel in the coming years. The company will work with MC10, a startup maker of flexible electronics, to develop sportswear that incorporates electronics to monitor athletes’ health and performance during training and rehabilitation…read more
This could lead to some great stuff for all of us. Many doctor visit and remedies are a shot in the dark. Your doctor has a short time to look you over. With electronics embedded in your clothes, your doctor can review your condition and your environment to look for correlations.
Of course, it could lead to some creepy stuff too…like clothing manufacturers monitoring you. Just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.

Cell phone cameras are taking over. It’s a good thing the point-and-shoot cameras are made in China, otherwise our government would be finding a way to subsidize the industry in order to save jobs. That’s what Progressives call progress.

Have you ever had your hard drive crash. What a pain! The problem with hard drives is that they have mechanical parts. A typical hard drive has a warranty of 3 to 5 years. If you keep important information on your computer…that’s not very long.
There is an alternative. Solid state drives have entered the market. These drives write to chips similar to the cards in your digital camera or inside your memory stick. They take less power, give off less heat and have no moving parts.
Of course, there is always a draw back. They are expensive when you compare them in capacity to the standard mechanical hard drives.
It appears that right from the start, the developers of IE9 had speed as a primary objective. Hardware accelerated graphics allow websites to run smoother and faster in your browser. Elements such as graphics, text and video are now rendered by your GPU instead of the CPU…read more

Netduino Plus with Ethernet and SD Card Support
It is a computer chip that can be easily setup as a data longer and web server.
Here are some sample applications:
Set it up as a web enabled thermometer in your home. Let’s say you leave for the beach for a week. You could turn the AC setting in the house so to 80 degrees. On your drive home, you pull out your smart phone and turn down the temperature and turn on the ceiling fans so it’s comfortable when you get there.
Set up as an automatic watering device for you garden. Decide when to turn on the water based on the moisture in the ground and the weather forecast pulled from an Internet source.
Setup as an intrusion detector that email you when activated.
Add a GPS shield and set it up on your bike to record you position and speed
The hope is due to the fact that they are new and are not yet available.

Image you’re on a spaceship headed to Mars. Instead of taking spare parts along, you decide that ordering parts from the Internet would be easier since “space” on your craft is limited. Sound crazy?
Sci-Fi you say. Maybe not. Now imagine going online and instead of ordering a spare part for your lawn mower, you just download the geometry and print it out on your 3D printer. No shipping! No Inventory! No Waiting!
