What a difference eight years can make. USA Today paper has a big headline that says “Romney’s returns show he’s elite 1%”. These were not issues when John Kerry was running. It’s almost like they are being driven by the White House’s political narrative. At the very least, it shows that reporters are not driving the news…which begs the question. Who is?
PIPA is the Internet Piracy Act in the Senate. Opposition to this power grab by the feds has bipartisan opposition. It is particularly opposed by young voters. So is it any wonder you haven’t heard that most of the opposition to it in the Senate comes form Republicans?
Currently there are 16 Republicans and 2 Democrats who oppose the bad bill
I talked to my brother over the holiday. He told me that a long time friend of his new wife is a producer at CNN and that producer posted on Facebook that all Republicans are racist. His liberal wife does not dispute his telling of the story.
It strikes me that 1) liberal bias is as bad as ever and 2) CNN is a ridiculous organization for promoting someone who is too stupid to hide his bias.
From Faux News (I’m sure they just made this stuff up, because Fox News is so powerful that they can just make ups statistics and their idiot viewers will believe it):
In the first six months of this year, there were 14% fewer murders in Chicago compared to the first six months of last year – back when owning handguns was illegal. It was the largest drop in Chicago’s murder rate since the handgun ban went into effect in 1982.
This can’t be true because MSNBC, ABC, CBS and CNN haven’t covered it.
MSNBC hosts a conversation how conservatives are crazy and possibly dangerous
According to MSNBC, smaller government is unattainable and the quest for it by Tea Partiers borders on psychosis. They are child like addicts that could strike out like the Norwegian mass murderer at any time.
So what is unattainable? Smaller government? Balanced budgets?
Let me tell you what is unattainable. The socialist ideal that progressives envision. We don’t have the money to pay for all their programs.
And who is violent? Whether it is pies thrown at conservatives on college campuses, Acorn flash mobs showing up at a private homes or union thugs trying to gain political position by threats and violence; nearly all political violence in this country is a product of the left.
Acting like children. It is the left that wants to outlaw speech defined (by them) as offensive. It is the left that resorts to name calling (Tea Partiers are racist and terrorist). It is the left that controlled both branches of Congress and couldn’t perform the adult act of passing a budget.
MSNBC is truly delusional.
Thomas Frank is an writer for the New York Times. He wrote a book titled, “What’s wrong with Kansas?” where he wondered:
there is no bad economic turn a conservative cannot do unto his buddy in the working class, as long as cultural solidarity has been cemented over a beer.
It is a mystery to this liberal writer why people vote to benefit the wealthy at the expense of the blue collar worker. Of course, this is not how conservatives see the world. Conservatives have sensed for a long time that liberals push are feel-good policies that have long term destructive power. As a conservative, having a “sense” for a problem is not enough. I need facts. So, do liberal policies help the working class and the minority groups they are designed to help.
Yesterday, I heard on the radio that the graduation rate in Detroit is 24.9%. That is a pretty damning statistic. Detroit and Michigan have been ruled by liberal policies for years.
Education is not the only failure. Unskilled, uneducated workers have a tough time finding work in a down economy. A recent Department of Labor reports looked at Black Employment in the Recovery and Walter Russell Mead shines the light on this fact:
The states where unemployment rates for African Americans are relatively low are states where not many African Americans live: Alaska (5.4 percent Black unemployment), Wyoming (6.2 percent), Idaho (8.0 percent), Hawaii (9.6 percent) and (at 10.3 percent) New Hampshire. Except for Hawaii all are generally conservative, low-tax states. The states with the highest unemployment rates for African Americans are staunchly blue: Wisconsin (25 percent), Michigan (23.9 percent), Minnesota (22 percent), Maine (21.4 percent) and Washington (21.4 percent)…read more
Elitists like Thomas Frank can’t understand conservatives because he thinks they are voting against their own self interest. They are not. They are just smarter than he is.
Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been released after the rape case against him collapsed. Now think back to the Duke lacrosse rape case.
Once again the system work, but not until after the incompetent media all but convicted what they perceived to be a white men of privileged accused by a minority women. There is no need to be fair or objective when a story fits their world view.
In what scenario can you think of where President Obama would be ignored and potential Republican challenger would be highlighted?
It’s easy…when it comes to gaffes.
NBC Nightly News Reports Bachmann’s John Wayne Gaffe, Ignores Obama’s Fallen Soldier Error
What is even more appalling is that Bachman’s error wasn’t even that bad.
She was in Waterloo, Iowa when she invoked the Duke, who was born 3 hours away.
How could she be so stupid? Any fool could see how that serious error was highlighted while the Commander and Chief not realizing a medal of honor winner was dead was ignored.
Just the other day, Michelle Obama said that the media helped by not delving into the private lives of the Obama children.
You know, it’s … we’re ready, you know. Our children, you know, could care less about what we’re doing. We work hard to do that. Fortunately, we have help from the media. I have to say this: I’m very grateful for the support and kindness that we’ve gotten. People have respected their privacy and in that way, I think, you know, no matter what people may feel about my husband’s policies or what have you, they care about children and that’s been good to see.
Today, George Stephanopoulos warned Michelle Bachman:
I think one of the most impressive things that people find in your background is the fact that you and your husband have helped raise 23 foster children and I know you want to shield them but are they prepared and are you prepared for the loss of privacy that comes with the president campaign? And is that something you are concerned about for them?
Where’s the media help?
This NY Timees guy says something completely stupid by saying Midwesterners are stupid. Sure…he phrased it as an academic might say it, but that doesn’t make it smart. This affliction seems to be going around, particularly in Washington D.C.
If it’s Kansas, Missouri, no big deal. You know, that’s the dance of the low-sloping foreheads. The middle places, right? …Did I just say that aloud?” – David Carr, NY Times
As I have said for a long time, arrogance and incompetence is a deadly mix.
The tea parties started just over 2 years ago. People took to the streets after massive bailouts and outrageous spending. The Tea Party message was simple. Big government and high taxes are a threat to our freedom that we cherish.
Liberals fought back. They took to the air waves (which they pretty much own) to mock the tea partiers. They said taxes had not been raised and that the Tea Parties were thinly veiled racist gatherings.
No. The Tea Partiers saw the writing the wall. They knew massive spending would be followed up with massive tax hikes when the debt was out of control.
Fast forward to the current battle in Washington. Only the most ridiculous lefty argues that we aren’t going broke. Everyone knows the government is out of money and we are on an unsustainable path. Republican (fearing the backlash of the Tea Parties) are holding fast to the idea of cost cuts while maintaining the current tax rates. Democrats aren’t budging. They want to increase revenues by increasing taxes.
Just for the sake of argument…let’s forget that raising tax rates does not mean raising revenue.
It should be pointed out that the Tea Parties were right. They saw it coming. The phrase “tax and spend liberal” can now be replaced with “spend and tax liberals”. That’s what Barack Obama likes to call change.
Did the talking heads who belittled the common folk at the Tea Parties knowingly disparage small government message even though they knew higher taxes would soon be coming…or are the pompous wind bags of the main stream media too dumb to see what was so obvious to everyone else. One thing is for sure. The main stream media won’t go back now and highlight their folly. I guess connecting the dots is what bloggers are for.
“Shockingly bad journalism” is redundant when referring to the Washington Post
The Washington Post attack Republicans for hypocrisy because they want to do away with ethanol subsidies. The logic goes that Republicans say they want lower taxes but eliminating the subsidies is a tax increase.
Removing subsidies is far from being hypocritical. Republicans want lower taxes FOR ALL, not industries chosen by Washington elites.
…ethanol subsidy is that it is a classic case of rent-seeking. The beneficiaries are relatively few but relatively well organized. It is in the interest of politicians to vote to keep it, even though it is against the interest of most of their constituents
Being overtly liberal hasn’t worked for MSNBC, but that doesn’t stop CNN from proclaiming their liberal bias right in the headline.
From this headline, I guess we are suppose to conclude that spending 14 trillion dollars more than you take in is perfectly sane.
The Washington Post has an open invitation for readers to help read thousand of emails from and to Sara Palin.
More than 24,000 e-mail messages sent to and from Sarah Palin during her tenure as Alaska’s governor will be released Friday. Join The Post in digging through them. We are looking for 100 organized and diligent readers who will work alongside Post reporters to analyze, contextualize, and research the e-mails…read more
Knowing their liberal bias and loathing for Sara Palin, it’s hard not to assume they are looking to manufacture the news.
The hypocrisy on American Progressive “News” is staggering
Perhaps using a preemptive strike to help combat the May jobs report to be released on Friday, MSNBC has already found an excuse for lost jobs, and an increased unemployment rate – storms, tornadoes and flooding. According to a business report:
“…homes or places of business have been destroyed in this year’s wave of storms, tornadoes and flooding. That means thousands of workers in the South and Midwest could be out of work for some time, potentially pushing up the nation’s jobless rate and further taxing financially strapped state unemployment funds.”
Yet in 2004, when reporting on an October jobs report in which hiring had increased at the fastest pace in seven months, MSNBC somehow managed to find analysts who said the jump in hiring was due mainly to another form of natural disaster – hurricanes. The business report at that time read:
“Some analysts were skeptical about the latest surge of hiring, pointing out that much of the unusually large jump in October stemmed from cleanup and rebuilding in Florida and other states that were ravaged by four hurricanes…”
