Government Run Health Care
How many examples of poorly run government programs must we endure before people wake up. The New Jersey CHIP program is just the latest in a long list of poorly run program. Link. (hat tip to Michelle Malkin)
People earning as much as $295,000 are enrolled in a state health care program designed for New Jersey’s poor, according to a new audit that found the state failing to check eligibility for all program enrollees.
One of the costs involved with private health insurance is the constant vigilance required to reduce fraud. The government has the same problem. I have a great way to remove this cost. Well, it’s not exactly my idea. Change the system so we pay the doctor directly with our own money. Like auto insurance, health insurance should cover very expensive, unplanned expenses.
There’s more:
The state also failed to try to collect $4.6 million owed to the program by 16,300 people who were disembroiled, the audit found.
Cue the calculator: That’s only $286 per disembroiled case. My guess is that it would cost the state $10 million to recover $4.6 million. I base that on their general capacity to screw up everything they touch…but good luck with that Universal Health Care plan.
