Social Engineering Leads to Disaster
We have already seen the house pass new tax laws, but not to raise money for important government functions. The liberals in the House want to use the tax money to “invest” in “change”. They want to be the middle men in a great scheme where they take money away from choices they find to be unappealing to choices they deem more important.
The liberal power base has already raised taxes on cigarettes. The House has passed a huge tax on energy. They are working on a tax on “sugary drinks”. They want to force you to buy certain light bulbs. They are throwing around the idea of taxing health benefits.
There is one underlying principal behind all these initiatives. Elected liberals think they know better what is right for us. Is it a power trip they are collectively on or is it just complete arrogance? Who knows? Does it really matter?
Do you submit to the idea that Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reid is so wise that they know better than you do what is right for you? I would think the answer is, “no” for 99% of Americans. So the real issue isn’t their wisdom (which is obviously lacking). What Americans have temporarily bought into is the idea of the collective.
Call it redistribution. Call it socialism. Call it progressivism. It’s all the same thing. What the left believes is that the collective is more important than the individual, and the collective needs to be managed by those who understand what the collective needs. Freedom is unimportant. Rules are only for the little people. The collective managers are free to rewrite the rules in order to facilitate solutions for the collective.
When we step away from the philosophy of the collective, we see it applied in the real world in the last 6 months. We see the President ignore bankruptcy laws. We see a President that wants to limit the salaries within the collective. We see taxes imposed to stop bad behavior. We have a new manager (senator) that wins his seat position by getting other managers to rewrite the rules after the election. We hear a Democrat in CA complain that they (the managers of the collective) have to deal with the terrorism of free speech (LINK). These are all examples of the rising the collective above the individual.
Barack Obama can only blame George Bush for a short time. New problems will soon occur when their plans start to fall apart. The vanity and arrogance of the managers won’t allow them to admit to their own flaws. Instead they will blame some outside force. It may be someone from within the collective. It may be an outside force that will be demonized.
In the extreme, this finger pointing destroys lives. It destroys countries. The control freaks of Nazi Germany blamed both internal and external forces for their failures. The result was extermination of Jews and attacks on neighbors.
Do you remember the staged rallies outside the homes of AIG executives? That is just a harbinger of what may be headed our way. Some people like to say that religion has killed more people than wars. I don’t know if that is true, but what I do know is that religion doesn’t hold a candle to left wing, collectivist government. The most monstrous acts ever perpetrated on the humankind were ordered by managers of the collective.
To avoid another catastrophe, we must keep government small and empower the individual. History has shown that managed societies don’t move forward. They attack and destroy. We must return to a nation of strong individuals.
