Stop saying we are a democracy. The United States is a republic. Democracies are bound to fail. The United States is living experiment to see if a republic can last.
You may wonder what is wrong with democracies. It’s simple. The poor and unproductive outnumber the rich and productive. In a democracies, the poor can just vote themselves what others have created. This is a recipe for disaster. Turst me. I’m no genius to figure this one out. Here is what Aristotle had to say about democracies thousands of years ago:
If the majority distributes among itself the things of a minority, it is evident that it will destroy the city.
Our founders knew this because they were students of history. They where determined to build a system on the best of the past, but also determined to fix what went wrong.
In our system today, we have people complaining about the money in politics. The typical refrain is that only the rich advance. That’s not true. Bill Clinton did not come from a rich family. Neither did Barack Obama, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter…
The only rich Presidents in the last 50 years that I can think of are the Bush’s and John Kennedy. But money does come into play…and that is good. Why? Because those who made money also made the country. Would it make sense to say those who sit back and wait for a handout have the same say as those who employ hundreds and work hard their whole lives.
I say that we have struck a good balance between the needs of the poor without handing them the keys to the city. So stop whining about campaign financing. Stop saying we are democracy. Stand up to those who spout such nonsense. We need to educate are friends and families that “the rich” is a derogatory word for “the productive”.
