Let’s look back now that the hurricane season is officially over. It may seem like it as a quiet year. There were 12 category 3 or higher storms this year, but none hit the U.S. There were a total of 19 named storms this year. That is third highest on record. At one point, there were two category 4 hurricanes in the Atlantic…that’s a first.
So it was quiet on land, but it was raging out at sea.
The New York Times is participating in the dissemination of the stolen State Department cables that have been made available to it in one way or another via WikiLeaks. My friend Steve Hayward recalls that only last year the New York Times ostentatiously declined to publish or post any of the Climategate e-mails because they had been illegally obtained…read more
What does it say about the NY Times? To me…they are short sighted internationalists. Hmm…who believes in an international movement to redistribute wealth? The New York Times and (wait for it)….oh yea…communists.
Students need to be decently well-behaved, diligent, and organized, but it’s wrong to treat teacher’s-pet-type students as if they are the best. That drives many smart kids into rebellion. And, frankly, it’s likely to create unnecessary problems for lots of boys…read more
The kids who kissed-ass were rewarded. I couldn’t stand them. They took up class time going over the homework. Excuse me…homework is for home. Go see a tutor. Because class was a review of the homework, I was bored to tears. I ended up skipping class most of the time. It became a game…how little did I actually have to go to class.
The problem reached its pinnacle in Thermodynamics. I went to class on the first day. He explained the difference between relative pressure and absolute pressure…FOR AN ENTIRE HOUR!!! That class was too early in the morning to be bored that much. I never returned to class. The final was an open notes/open book exam. I had no notes and no book. I had not been to class since the first day. I passed with a “D”. I should have failed!
College is an expensive joke. It is yet another example of how liberals ruin institutions.
In light of the increased security at airports, it might be a good time to remind all about the 4th Amendment to the Constitution
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
We were told by liberals that we must give terrorist civilian trials or they have won. Baloney. Our Constitution says nothing about giving foreign enemies trials…yet liberals defend an administration that searches millions of citizens who have done nothing to warrant a search.
It’s sad that the President lectured us about the Constitution when Muslims wanted to build a mosque near Ground Zero, but defends the searching of every person because he is too weak to use common sense and probable cause. Some might call it “profiling”.
Like most politicians, he looks to the Constitution only when it is convenient.
Mohamed O. Mohamud has been arrested for tying to blow up a car bomb at a Christmas event. He is a 19 year old U.S. citizen born in Somalia. This is simply another case were profiling would have singled out this guy. We keep hearing that if we profile, the terrorist will just find someone who is outside the typical profile. I say fine. They will have to leave their comfort zone and that will make them more vulnerable.
So let’s stop padding down old white women dressed in nun habits and focus on the young men with Muslim names. And when CAIR complains as we know they will, we should stand as a nation to say “Shut the hell up”.
Dennis Prager has the key to a long term conservative America. Raise you children to be happy.
Raise children who are grateful to be American, who don’t complain, who can handle losing and who are guided by values, not feelings. In other words, teach them how to be happy adults…read more
A Pew Research poll shows that liberals are less happy than conservatives. Prager examines some of the reasons for the left’s unhappiness.
People who see themselves as victims of an unjust society are likely to have liberal views. How could such a person be happy?
Conservatives view life as hard…hard for everyone. They accept it. Liberals believe they can make a Utopia. He says, “The utopian compares America to utopia and finds it terribly wanting. The conservative compares America to the every other civilization that has ever existed and walks around wondering how he got so lucky to be born or naturalized an American.”
Conservatives are more likely to “eschew” government assistance and be more self reliant. Liberals will fall back on government assistance with ease. He concludes, “The more one feels that he is captain of his or her ship (as poor as that ship may be), the happier he or she will be.”
Conservatives believe behavior is more important then feelings. Liberals place importannce on feelings. Those who govern their feelings are generally happier.
So raise those childern to appreciate America. Teach them to act properly even when they are in a bad mood. Instill the independent spirit in them. If you do, your children have a greater chance at happiness and we will have another life-long conservative.
It’s a win-win.

The New York Times is just now reporting on the fear of where ObamaCare will take us.
Consumer advocates fear that the health care law could worsen some of the very problems it was meant to solve — by reducing competition, driving up costs and creating incentives for doctors and hospitals to stint on care, in order to retain their cost-saving bonuses…read more

Sarah Palin has been vindicated by the reigning progressive economist at the New York Times. Paul Krugman had this to say this weekend:
If they were going to do reality therapy, they should have said, OK, look, Medicare is going to have to decide what it’s going to pay for. And at least for starters, it’s going to have to decide which medical procedures are not effective at all and should not be paid for at all. In other words, it should have endorsed the panel that was part of the health care reform. If it’s not even — if the commission isn’t even brave enough to take on the death panels people, then it’s doing no good at all. It’s not educating the public. It’s not telling people about the kinds of choices that need to be made.
Get it…bureacrats on boards will decide what medical precedure will be allowed. But wait…the progressive line is that death panels were a scare tactics created by right-wing nuts.

It has happened again. The Republicans have one another close one. This time the defeated Democrat is Bob Etheridge…The Carolina Strangler.
Nothing says you care about your constituents like physically abuse a young adult who has the temerity to ask a question. Do you think that cost him the election? I sure hope it did.
When Joe Biden says something stupid…which is every time his lips move…his allies just brush it aside saying something like “That’s just Joe being Joe.” Well…that makes it OK then.
Here is his latest:
Let me tell you, we’re going to start — Daddy is going to start to take the training wheels off … next July, so you’d better practice riding.
