From the comedy rally to “Restore Sanity”

I’m very concerned about what’s happening on the right and about how they’re pushing, pushing so hard against individual freedoms and I want to say, wait a minute, those of us on the left want to have a voice as well,” (Ginger) Louerde, 42, told ABC News…read more

Tea Partiers believe in the founding fathers and limited government, but this crazy liberal says the right is “pushing so hard against individual freedoms”. Huh? Redistribution of wealth, forcing people to buy a product (ObamaCare), removing transfat from restaurants…these not the policies of freedom.

The trade war has begun. In response to U.S. trade policy, China has decided to halt the export of rare earth elements. So, what are rare earth elements?

Rare-earth elements are relatively scarce minerals such as niobium and yttrium.   Rare-earth elements are used in products like magnets, batteries and fluorescent light bulbs. It turns out that rare earth elements aren’t all that rare. The U.S. has millions of tons of rare earth elements.

Rare-earth elements tend to occur together, which means extracting them is relatively simple. However, rare-earth elements have similar properties and it is difficult to isolate them from one another. An expensive process is required to make these element usable without harming the environment. For instance, uranium is often extracted with rare-earth elements. These waste must be dealt with. China is not much worried about pollution control, so they have been able to undercut the market price and drive most producers out of the business.

A trade war will create a shortage of rare-earth elements and cause these products to rise in price. Mines can be re-opened but it will take years. Will the trade war last that long? Will the EPA keep us out of the market so other countries like Australia can fill the void?  This will create a quandary for the  Obama Administration. They want green jobs to dominate our recovery and rare-earth element mining could be considered a “green job” since they are used in so many high tech applications, but the over sight required to protect the environment could slow down the re-start process so that the window of opportunity closes before we make any headway.

Recent polling shows that the race has narrowed to a gap that is well within the range that cannot be measured accurately by polling. Bank of America (Obama)Democrats have cozied up to too many big business interest. They saved GM. They bailed out AIG. Half of Wall Street biggests firms now work for the government.

Here is the latest revelation. It’s not new, but it is worth repeating.

Shortly after Labor Day, as polls continued to sink, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) realized it needed a cash infusion for the upcoming midterm elections. Its chairman, former Virginia Governor Tim Kaine, turned to the Bank of America to secure a $15 million revolving credit line. Then, in the middle of this month, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) got another loan from BofA for an additional $17 million.

What was their collateral? It turns out, not much.

Europe ‘dismayed’ as midterms highlight Obama’s struggles

Pompous blow-hards are “dismayed” that our pompous blow-hard is struggling.

(two years ago) Europe had fallen in love.

Love is blind

Many Europeans don’t get it.

Pompous and ignorant, what a rich combination.

The rules of the Senate were fine when he was a Senator from the minority party. Time for “change”?  Now that he is President without a super majority, Barack Obama has “changed” his tune.

The “Constitutional Scholar” has decided that the founders wanted what ever works for Barack Obama.

Last week, the main stream media’s dream came true. Violence erupted at a Rand Paul event and the liberal press went to work. (Let’s just forget that they totally ignored an event when a tea partier gets beat up by SEIU union thugs).

Remember Robert Kennedy. You will understand why in a minute.

The media put Lauren Valle on tour. She the MoveOn.org protested that claims she was pushed to the ground because the Rand Paul supporters didn’t like her message. It turns out that this far left activist did a little more than just hold a sign with a message…and there is video evidence. Read about it a RedState

Are you surprised?

I’m not. I am not surprised there is video evidence proofing a lefty is liar and I’m not surprised the Liberal press got it wrong. Watch this video, you will see that she clearly go too close to the candidate and the supporters protected him.

We have had a major candidate killed before. Remember Robert Kennedy. This protester showed up to a place where people don’t depend on the police. Rand Paul supporters are strong and independent. A lot of these people are gun owners. That means they believe in self defense. They don’t sit around helplessly waiting for the government to protect them. They refuse to be victims.

It is not unreasonable to think a left wing loon would mean Rand Paul harm. I for one congratulate the Rand Paul supporters for the quick action and condemn the MoveOn.org agitator who created the problem in the first place.

Many people find it hard to understand how lowering taxes on the rich can increase the tax revenue collected by government. Many liberals then put forth a condescending opinion about “trickle down economics”. The theory of lower taxes is not “trickle down” theory. Geez…you would think these liberals educated in esteemed institution would know at least a little bit about economics.

Thomas Sowell has a way of explaining economic for non-economists:

How can (lower taxes increase tax revenue)? Because taxpayers change their behavior according to what the tax rates are. When one of the Rockefellers died, Mellon discovered that his estate included $44 million in tax-exempt bonds, compared to $7 million in Standard Oil securities, even though Standard Oil was the source of the Rockefeller fortune.

For the country as a whole, the amount of money tied up in tax-exempt securities was estimated to be three times as large as the federal government’s expenditures and more than half as large as the national debt.

In short, huge amounts of money were not being invested in productive capacity, such as factories or power plants, but was instead being made available for local political boondoggles, because this money was put into tax-exempt state and local bonds.

When tax rates are reduced, investors have incentives to take their money out of tax shelters and put it into the private economy, creating higher returns for themselves and more production in the economy.

Not only does Thomas Sowell have the proper logic, he also has the history as proof. The roaring twenties were enabled by government cuts in  spending and lowered tax rates. The JFK tax cuts also lead to economic expansion, as did the Reagan tax cuts. During the Clinton years, the capital gains rate was lowered and investment in new technologies took off.

Let history be your guide. History will show you failure (socialism) and success (lower taxes).

Drilling into sheet rock can make a mess. I’ve tried using a vacuum to suck up the dust as it falls, but I only have two hands and I don’t want to be thinking about the vacuum tube when I should be thinking about PERPENDICULAR.

Here are two tricks for sheet rock holes with less mess.
