What political party believes:
Yup…it’s the Communist Party platform. I bet you thought it was the Democrats.
John Kerry was recently criticized for docking his $7 million yacht in Rhode Island instead of Massachusetts. He did nothing illegal. His boat was in Newport…which is a nice harbor and a great little town.
The news made him look like a hypocrite so he succumbed to pressure and has pledged to pay the taxes. I for one am not happy about it. This means he will take $500,000 out of his investments to pay the sales tax.
In other words, the Boston Globe created a great headline and political opponents scored some points, but we have just transferred another half million dollars from the private sector to the public sector.
It seems to me that the real hypocrites are the people who attacked Kerry even though they think low taxes are good for the economy and taxes on the wealthy kills jobs. I understand Kerry is a boob, but the money that his wife’s ex-husband made has just been reallocated to a sink hole.
Al Franken (the election thief) says:
We have seen what happens when Republicans take control of Congress with a Democratic president and it ain’t pretty.
Let’s review. The Republicans took control of Congress in 1994 during the Clinton years. What happened?
I wonder what color the sky is in Al Franken’s world.
The radical lefties over at the Huffington Post know nothing about economics:
From the stimulus debate, we know that both progressive and conservative economists agree that spending on programs like unemployment and food stamps are a far better boost to the economy than extending tax cuts. This makes sense – whereas a rich person may simply pocket a new tax break, a person on the economic brink will spend cash on necessities almost immediately. Thus, we can safely conclude that raising taxes on the wealthy and devoting those new resources to such programs would be a much better boost to the economy than simply extending tax cuts for the wealthy.
First of all, conservative economist don’t agree. The Founding fathers didn’t agree. That’s just nonsense.
Secondly, rich people don’t “pocket” money. They either spend it or invest it. Even putting your money in a savings account is investing it. This money is desperately needed by banks to improve their balance sheets and reduce the risk of lending. Invested money can get us out of the liquidity trap that we all learned about when the housing market crashed.
We need to create wealth. Taking money from the producers and handing it over to the idle is a very bad idea.
Finally, it would be far better to give someone a job instead of a hand-out. What happened to the “audacity of hope”. Is it hopeful to want welfare? No…people hope for jobs. Some of those conservative economist think that raising taxes on the wealthy could reduce hiring by 18%. That is a significant decrease in jobs and a big increase in government spending. It seems to me that the solution is to get people to work and away from assistance. Taxing people and pissing it away in Washington doesn’t sound like a good plan to me.
I’ll leave you with a quote from Winston Churchill.
We contend that for a nation to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.
The Obama’s are having a tough time, just like you and me:
He says he and first lady Michelle Obama took a hit like everybody else when the economy nearly collapsed, telling ABC that a college fund for daughters Malia and Sasha has gone “up and down” with the stock market.
Obama says the first couple is “not that far removed from what most Americans are going through.”
Hat tip to Michelle Malkin
Many of our founding fathers put their lives in jeopardy for the Revolution and many died poor. They risked (and many lost) everything so that we can enjoy freedom and live with abundant wealth. I love those guys.
Our current president is on a relentless drive to take away individual liberties in the name of “social justice”. Our children will be saddled with debt, but he will be set for life.
The contrast couldn’t be more stark. The audacity couldn’t be more outrageous. Let’s just say I’m not Obama’s biggest fan.
Propping up a market never works.
Sales of new homes jumped last month, but the overall pace was the second slowest on record.
and
May’s (new home sales) number was revised downward to 267,000, the slowest pace on records dating back to 1963. Sales for April and March were also revised downward.
What do journalist say in private:
Todd Gitlin of the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism had already made up his mind. Gitlin, whose job is to train the next generation of America’s most elite journalists, wrote this impassioned plea on behalf of the Obama campaign:
“McCain lies about his maverick status. Routinely, cavalierly, cynically. Palin lies about her maverick status. Ditto, ditto, ditto. McCain has a wretched temperament. McCain is a warmonger. Palin belongs to a crackpot church and feels warmly about a crackpot party that trashes America.”
Al Franken (the election thief) say:
If Republicans take back Congress they’ll implement a truly dangerous agenda
Can we just stop talking about the politics of fear. Democrats and Republicans do it. There is nothing wrong with pointing out what you think about the policy differences and why your opponents ideas are destructive.
The politics of fear is find with me. Racial politics is far more destructive.
Would it be too much to ask for consistency?
Obama ran a repealing “Bush’s tax cut for the wealthy”. Now that it is about to expire, ending the Bush tax cut has the potential to severely hurt the economy. That is something that even a committed lefty like Obama realizes and something he wants to avoid…for his own sake.
It has been funny watching Democrats turn themselves into knots. When passed the tax cuts for the wealthy were huge. Now it’s just a couple of percentage points. What’s not funny is that they get a pass. Does it not occur to anyone in the press that:
Many conservatives…including me…predicted that there would be high inflation due to Obama’s policies. It hasn’t happened (yet). Instead we have seen a period of deflation.
Why?
If inflation is too many dollars chasing too few products, then deflation must be too few dollars chasing to many products.
Think about that for a second.
First of all, our ability to produce products hasn’t changed much. There are no shortages. Can you think of a single thing that you can’t get? So the problem must be too few dollars.
Too few dollars? Where are they? I believe it is in two place.
The obvious answer is that business and people are holding on to cash. This is a result of uncertainty caused by new regulations (ObamaCare, finanical “reform”, expiring tax cuts).
Personally, I don’t think that is enough to cause deflation. So it must be somewhere else…and that somewhere else is government. Our money has been used to purchase treasury bonds. When you buy a treasury bond, you take money out of your wallet and pay a broker. He then sends the money to Washington in return for a piece of paper. They use the money to pay for things…and what are these things. 5% of the budget is interest (that is nearly two trillion dollars per year)…and much of that is interest paid to foreign investors. It’s not that the money is gone. It’s still out there, but it has left the national economy for a while. Foreigners still like holding the greenback because it is the most stable currency available.
Someday that money will return, and when it does there will be a flood of money. The teeter-tooter will flip and we will find ourselves with too many dollars chasing too few products.

The environment zealots and farm lobby successfully lobbied the federal government to mandate the use of ethanol. Why? Because you wouldn’t do it with them “nudging” you into it.The downside is that it cost more to drive.
What I am not saying is that ethanol raises the price of gas. What I am saying is that ethanol has less energy in it and therefore efficiency of your automobile is effected. Even the ethanol industry acknowledges that your car performance is effected about2%, but anecdotal evidence suggests it is much higher.
Some drivers think the change is notably greater. Chuck Mai, a vice president of AAA Oklahoma, reported that his organization has been getting calls from members blaming E10 for mileage drops of 8 to 20 percent.
Drivers in Tulsa, he said, are complaining to their local service stations , saying, “ ‘I used to get 28 mpg; last time around, I’m getting 25. What’s going on?’ ”
In chat rooms at Edmunds.com and elsewhere, plenty of people are blaming ethanol for substantial mileage drops.
To sum it up:
Explain to me why we should listen to the geniuses in Washington.
According to Howard Dean:
Fox News did something that was absolutely racist. They took a – they had an obligation to find out what was really in the clip. They had been pushing a theme of black racism with this phony Black Panther crap and this business and this Sotomayor and all this other stuff.
Don’t believe your eyes. That Black Panther “crap” is phony. More importantly, it is racist for journalist that don’t find out what is “really in the clip”….you know….like the absurd charge that racial slurs were used against a congressmen by tea partiers when hundreds of cameras where on site (including in the congressman’s entourage) and yet not a single camera was able to capture the racial slur.
When Chris Wallace told Howard Dean that the clip wasn’t played on Fox until after Shirley Sharrod was fired, he shot back that it was about to air on Glenn Beck. What Howard Dean didn’t point out…and probably doesn’t know…is that Glenn Beck said we needed to see the whole tape before we can jump to conclusion. Mr Beck has been taken out of context enough to understand this game.
To someone on the left, only conservatives can be racist. This is what passes for intellect in the Democratic part, news rooms and universities. Fox News dares to trespass on lefty ground and therefore the smearing is justified in Howard Dean’s eyes.
Again…I couldn’t care less about Shirley Sharrod. So many whites have had their careers ended on baseless charges of racism that I can’t get worked up about it. I would hope that the NAACP would learn a lesson here…but I know they won’t.
Shirley Sharrod got caught in the middle of a political fight. She is a lefty with ridiculous, racist positions, but that doesn’t mean she deserved the treatment she got from the media and Barack Obama’s administration.
But now that the episode is more clear, the media is falling all over themselves to apologize and to find ways to avoid this trap in the future. The trap is the tricky environment where discussions about race and racism is a dangerous game. It is a trap they invented.
I would like to make a suggestions. Before they spend an extra second on apologizing or excusing Shirley Sharrod, maybe they should re-live their Joe the Plumber moment. Samuel Wurzelbacher was tossing a football in his yard when Barack Obama stopped by for a photo op. What followed was a media storm caused by a brief moment of clarity. Joe the Plumber was born and Sam Wurzelbacher died. The press and Democrats operatives (probably working together on the Journolist) started a smear campaign that destroyed his life.
Where’s the apology? Where’s the outrage.
