I have heard this too many time. “Where were you guys when Bush was president?” Liberals like point out that Bush ran deficits too and they claim that opponents of Obama are hypocrites.

As usual, liberals have it all ass-backwards.

When Bush was President, conservatives were moderately concerned about the deficits. Debts were big, but until the last year, at least the trend was headed in the right direction. Now that Obama is president, conservative anxiety about deficits have grown because the deficits have grown. And to make matters worse, Obama continues to push policies that will make the matters worse.

Conservative Position

Small deficit = small concern
Huge deficit = huge concern

That seems completely consistent to me.

What is not consistent is the liberal position. They were all anxious about a small deficit under Bush, but they are willing to overlook a huge deficit by the Obama administration.

Liberal Position

Small deficit = huge concern
Huge deficit = no concern

That is hypocrisy.
