The “Stimulus” bill was suppose to create jobs. It was suppose to be handed out for domestic projects such as roads and bridges. Left out of the stimulus was defense spending. That was a sign of things to come.

As now approved, Pentagon spending will rise 0.7 percent this fiscal year-though Obama is expected to seek more money for the Afghanistan war early next year-while domestic spending should rise 8.2 percent, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, a budget watchdog group.

When those budgets are combined, spending will grow about 4.1 percent — less than the 7.5 percent average of the past 10 years, but still well above the current 1 to 2 percent rate of inflation. (read more)

In other words, spending is out of control on domestic spending, but defense spending is down. Yes, the Obama Administration will fund the ongoing operations in Afghanistan for now, but the overall system will lose money.

China’s power grows. Iran is building nuclear arms.  The Russians have proven to be an un-retractable thorn. We live in a dangerous world, and the Democrats in Congress diminish the one thing the federal government is suppose to do…provide for the common defense.
