UPDATE (11/5/2009): Obviously, that was wishful thinking

The hurricane season ends in October, yet activity from the Caribbean has been minimal this year.

Dr. Hansen predicted the West Side Highway in New York City would be under water and Al Gore predicted more frequent and more powerful hurricanes. Both are wrong, yet they continue to say we need to change our live styles based on their predictions.

It’s a strange world where people who are consistently wrong and awarded and praised and people who succeed are punished.

From Spencer Bachus:

During consideration of H.R. 3126, legislation to establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA), Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee voted to pass an amendment offered by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) that will make ACORN eligible to play a role in setting regulations for financial institutions.

What does this mean?

By making representatives of ACORN and other consumer activist organizations eligible to serve on the Oversight Board, the amendment creates a potentially enormous government sanctioned conflict of interest. ACORN-type organizations will have an advisory role on regulating the very financial institutions from which they receive millions of dollars annually in direct corporate contributions and benefit from other financial partnerships and arrangements. These are the same organizations that pressured banks to make subprime mortgage loans and thus bear a major responsibility for the collapse of the housing market.

In an speech to his base, Barack Obama said that Republicans do what they are told.  I could create a long list of Republicans that don’t tow the party line, but I’ll take a different track.

Barack Obama had the most liberal Senate voting record during his brief time there, yet his supporters claim that he is a moderate. That can only lead to one conclusion. If he is moderate, yet voted liberally, then Senator Obama must have been dutifully voted as he was instruction.

On the populous front…Barack Obama was a community organizer. He made a living out of getting people to march in lock step to liberal demands.

And the most damning of all is the attacks waged against blacks and women who dare to be conservative. Liberals expect certain people to be liberal. They demand it. When blacks and women stray from the liberal plantation, they are visciously attacked for not doing what they are told.

It’s true that Democrats supported more conservative candidates (Blue Dogs), but this was a scheme to gain power. That power wasn’t handed to the moderates of the party. Quite the opposite. The extreme left wing of the party is now in control. The reigning queen of the House is a San Francisco liberal. What I see is moderate Democrats voting for extremely liberal policies like Tax and Trade and Obama Health Scare.

Who does what they are told?

Global Warming alarmist tell us that we must act. The dangers are so great that drastic policy changes should be enacted just to be safe. Before we jump in head first based on their predictions, we should look back at their past predictions to see how good alarmist are at seeing into the future.

Dr. James Hansen is a leading advocate for global warming. He became famous in the 1980′s as one of the first to sound the warming alarm. It is instructive to go back in time to review his prediction. Unlike predictions he makes today, his past predictions can be compared to the real world to see if his alarm ism is warranted.

Here is what Dr. Hansen had to say in 1988 about what New York City would be like in 20 to 30 years:

“The West Side Highway [which runs along the Hudson River] will be under water. And there will be tape across the windows across the street because of high winds. And the same birds won’t be there. The trees in the median strip will change.” Then he said, “There will be more police cars.” Why? “Well, you know what happens to crime when the heat goes up.”

Poor guy. It must be depressing being overly concerned about dramatic future events. It’s now 20 years later and in his mind, the threat is even worse. They have a term for this. It’s “nuts”.

This is becoming too common. When Democrats are caught saying the dumbest things, they claim their stupidity is a failed attempt at humor. John Kerry famously used the excuse when explaining his insult to people in the military during his failed Presidential run.

The latest example is Anita Dunn, the White House communication director. Ms. Dunn said that Mao Zedong (a mass murdering communist) was one of her favorite political philosophers in a commencement speech to high school students. She said it very matter of factly. She said it to a group of people who’s knowledge of history is abysmal. I bet most high school students couldn’t tell you the first thing about Chairman Mao.

Here’s the truth. Normally, this kind of left wing advice given to our children and young adults goes unnoticed. Poor misunderstood Anita Dunn however was put in charge of attacking Fox News. Fox News retaliated by exposing her extreme left wing position. As with most of the allegations I have seen lately on Fox, there is video evidence. Left wingers are hanging themselves with their own words. They can’t argue what they said earlier…so they claim failed humor.

The rest of the media then rolls over for their latest left wing politician in need of help. Contrast that to the story of Rush Limbaugh.

Rush recently was asked to join a group attempting to purchase an NFL football team. This outraged the left because the hate Rush. They then started a smear campaign by making up racist quotes and attributing them to Rush. The out of touch media then joined in the chorus to smear Rush. When it became obvious that the quotes where made up, they then claimed that Rush has made other racist comments…yet none was given as evidence. The effect was that Rush was dropped from the group trying to gain entry into the NFL.

Video of offensive left wingers – ignored

Made up quotes for right wingers – repeated

See how that works.

According to The Hill

The first direct stimulus reports showed that stimulus contracts saved or created just 30,083 jobs, prompting more Republican criticism of the $787 billion package.

Calculator please…25% of the $787 billion stimulus spent…or $196 billion…equates to about 6.5 million dollars per job.

Now they want more stimulus…even though the last one hasn’t been exhausted.

Hope and Change. Yea!  Thanks kids. Your the greatest.

Now that’s taxation without representation. Someday those kids are going to grow up and their going to pissed at us.

President Obama had this to say:

every single American in this country who’s looking for work is going to be able to get the kind of well-paying job that supports their families.

Does every job need to support a family? What about teenagers? Do they need to support a family? Teenagers need work experience. What about  spouses who are looking for part time work while their kids are in school? Schedule may be as important as salary.  What about retired people looking to supplement their Social Security?

Obama’s logic is the same thinking that increased the minimum wage earlier this year. We now have the highest unemployment rate for ever for young men (LINK). Progressives always look forward. They never look back to see the destruction caused by their ideals.

Obama tries to be coy. He never says what his intent is, but his supporters know that he is talking to them. His quote is a recasting of the “living wage” argument. As with most of his policies, it is not about the little guy. It is more support thrown to big labor unions.

According to a new study:

..not all races are considered equal in the college admissions game. Of students applying to private colleges in 1997, African-American applicants with SAT scores of 1150 had the same chances of being accepted as white applicants with 1460s and Asian applicants with perfect 1600s.

This is not only a problem for Asians. It’s a problem for African Americans.

From an MSNBC story:

Racial gaps are another concern. Overall, the federal figures report 57 percent of white students finish their degree, compared with 44 percent of Hispanics and 39 percent of blacks.

Do you see a connection? Surprisingly, the obvious eludes most liberals. When you let African American’s into an environment they are not ready for, they are more likely to fail. Any race or group would be much more successful if they attended universities that they were qualified for.

African Americans are hurt by liberals diversity goals. Who does diversity help? It obviously isn’t helping African Americans. It is there so rich white liberals can have acquaintances with minorities. It makes them feel good about themselves. Isn’t that special.

Lawyer Loses Unemployment Cash Because of $1.30 in Daily Blog Income:

The state of New York has cut off unemployment benefits for a 2008 law grad after she reported collecting $1.30 a day in advertising income from her blog.

The lawyer, who allowed only her first name of Karin to be used, was laid off from her job at a New York City law firm after working there only six months, Forbes reports. Karin publishes a blog called STL Meal Deals highlighting dining bargains in St. Louis, where she moved to take advantage of more affordable rent.

Can’t you just wait for this kind of common sense to take over health care?

$1.30 a Day! My Google Ads made $1.77 in September. I think the government should redistribute some of her $1.30 a day to me. That would be “social justice”!

We woke this morning to the news that our President has won the Nobel Peace (of crap) Prize. He has joined other noted Presidents…like Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Jimmy Carter.  All three (now four) are progressives. Seeing a pattern?

Should we be happy that our President has won this award. Absolutely not. The award is given by a bunch of elitist European leftists.  This is the same group that gave a peace price to the terrorist Yasser Arafat.

Has Obama ended terrorism? Claims of peace while an anti-semetic fascist state strengthens is scary. Like British Prime Minister Chamberlain’s boast of “Peace in our time” right before the start of WWII, has the Nobel Committee just declare “Peace for Our Time?”

From Dr. Thomas Sowell:

After political crusades for “affordable housing” ended up ruining the housing market and much of the economy with it, many of the same politicians are now carrying on a crusade for “affordable health care.” But what you can afford has absolutely nothing to do with the cost of producing anything.

The news has just come  in that the Olympics will go to Rio de Janeiro. This is good, and I’m not saying that because it makes Barack Obama look bad.

I’m tired of this country spending billions of dollars to watch others play sports. Don’t get me wrong. I love sports. I love to play sports. I love to participate…not watch. It’s time for American to get off the couch and get involved.

Play. Coach. Run. Walk. Whatever. As the Nike slogan says, just do it.

Playing in a sporting events is much cheaper than being a spectator. Taking my family to an Eagles game is goint to cost me hundreds of dollars. The cost of signing up my daughter for one season of youth soccer was less then the price of one professional football ticket.  I would much rather coach my daughter and her friends than watch a bunch of steroid enriched, spoiled twenty-somethings in a tax payer funded palace.

Nothing is sadder than to watch an aging fat guy talk about the Eagles like he is personally involved. Your a “fan”. “Fan” is short for “fanatic”. Terrorist are fanatic too. There is something a little creepy about people who get all worked up sports.

CONFESSION: I used to be a fan…back when my whole existance was work and weekends. It seems so pitiful now.

Conservative believe in rights and freedoms of individuals. They aren’t community organizers. Conservatives believe in personal responsibility. When they see a problem, they tackle it head on. They don’t petition the government for help.

The size of the tea parties is not important. It’s amazing that conservatives have come together in groups of any size.
