Where are the “journalist”?

The blogosphere scores another victory. Again bloggers have done the job the media won’t do.

NASA recently reported that October was the warmest on record. After reviewing the data, Anthony Watts ( his blog,  Watts Up With That is linked to from Elephant Owners) reviewed the data and found that the October temperatures from Russia matched the data in September. (LINK) After further review, this error led to further inquiry that discovered persistent questions about the Russian data. Each year, warm temperatures are reported in the Russian winter…but not in the summer. He has theorized that the heat island effect is exaggerated in Russia due to uninsulated steam pipes from thermal power stations.

This is not the first error caught by a blogger. In 2007, Stephen McIntyre discovered and wrote in his Climate Audit blog that there was a Y2K error in NASA temperature data. It was a minor error, but recalculations forced NASA to retract the claim that 1998 was the warmest year on record.

The Global Warming cheerleaders in the MSM are again failing at their jobs. It begs the question as to what kind of person goes into journalism. There are plenty of qualified people like Anthony Watts and Stephen McIntyre that could write for papers. Instead, the newspapers fill their pages with stories written by unqualified “journalist” who want to make a difference. They have turned journalism into liberal advocacy.

I will have no pity for them when they get laid off from their failing newspapers.

UPDATE: While bloggers are investigating and finding the truth, reporters are exaggerating and making themselves look foolish.  Newsbusters.com explains (LINK)

Al [Roker] on the other hand is in Iceland looking at the glaciers which store most of our fresh water.  And if they were to melt, the oceans could rise at least 200 feet.

Who is more trust worthy…the blogger or the main stream media?
